One of the greatest gifts of residential design is helping a client begin with an image and see it become a room, a home, and a sanctuary. Originally found in magazines, and now enhanced by websites such as Pinterest and Houzz, images of inspiration often, and subtly, find their way into the warp and weft of a project.

You may not realize you have a design pattern and that your image boards interrelate, but we do! Bring us all of your sources of inspiration – driftwood, seashells, a treasured teacup, your favorite fragrance. We’ll take it all in and then begin to weave your story around you.

We can begin with drawings, as shown in our Fixture & Finish Storyboards page, but usually our clients arrive with images. Sometimes they only have words to explain their goals – we can work with that, too.

cozy, warm, neutral, beachy, rustic, classic, welcoming
modern, industrial, contemporary, farmhouse, traditional
approachable, bohemian, sparkling, fresh, crisp

Designers in the public eye sell their aesthetic by creating new terminology, selling it alongside their new product. While having catchy categories makes a style, a book, a purchase trendy, it likely doesn’t reflect YOU. There is room for your own authentic style within the context of fresh new ideas. Don’t settle for what everyone else has; seek something deeper and more meaningful to YOU. Unsurprisingly, you’ll find you invest more in foundation pieces (which can last decades) and change up your lifestyle layering (more on that later) to keep pace with any shifts in personal preference and/or fashion. And, in consideration of our planet, you’ll be helping to reduce the pattern of disposable decoration.

After image review and wordplay, where do we begin? Maybe we start with something simple like this combination of wood, tile, stone, fabric, hardware, adornment and patina. Each image reflects a blend of color, finish, texture, natural vs. machined, variety of scale, found objects, blend of textures, and a range of prices. These elements balance with one another, are pleasing to the eye, and make for a successful interior.

Or we might put together a quick paint palette and pair it with a couple of options for adjacent rooms, like the images below.
(This client wished to begin with warm greys in their open plan spaces, but pop in a bit of color in a few rooms.)

In the project shown below, our client was a gentleman who traveled often and collected art and textiles on his journey. We prepared a storyboard reflecting a handful of options for new furniture, seamlessly fitting them in alongside his existing pieces.

GENTLEMAN’S STUDY

The creation of your child’s nursery is a highly personal project. Most parents choose to create their own nest, but if you need a bit of help, or a few extra special touches, we are happy to lend a joyful hand.

NURSERY – LIGHTING OPTIONS & FINAL BASE PALETTE

So, now that you are excited with all of this content, where do we go from here? If you choose to do so, straight into furniture plan options.

And, from plans, we can shift into furniture sourcing (2-3 options per piece); client review and approval; working furniture schedules; design review against budget requirements; and finally, a complete schedule of all of your furniture and accessories.
You decide your needs and your path!
